How To Apply
We are pleased that you have chosen
to apply to Shoreline Community College and look forward to welcoming you to
our campus community.
To
apply for admission, the following items are
required:
1. A completed
paper application or
online
application
The application form should be signed by the applicant
and submitted to International Programs. Please ensure that all the
fields on the application form are completed.
2. $50 Application Fee
(non-refundable)
Any application
that is not accompanied by the application fee will not be processed.
There are four ways to
pay the
application
fee* (and the optional $35 Express Mail fee).
*Part
of the application fee will cover refreshment costs and retention
activities available during your enrollment at Shoreline.
3.
Transcripts: complete and official high school records
(all years) as well as any college or university transcripts
- If you have completed high school, please submit proof of high school completion (such as a diploma) AND academic transcripts that show your grades.
- If you have not completed high school, please provide transcripts of the past few years (please note that you must have completed the equivalent of Grade 9 to be eligible for admission to Shoreline).
- If you have also attended college or university, please attach copies of those transcripts as well.
- All records should be in English
when possible. If the official transcript is in another language, please
provide a copy of the original transcript along with the English
translation. Translations should be prepared by the school or by another
certified professional translating service.
- If your country's educational system requires national examinations at the completion of secondary education (i.e., Indonesian SMU, Hong Kong HKCEE), please provide a copy of your results.
- Copies of transcripts are acceptable. However, please be ready to provide originals if asked.
- Students who have
attended a college or university prior to Shoreline may be eligible to
transfer some or all of their credits for use towards a Shoreline
degree. Requests for evaluation of such credits may be made after
student starts program at Shoreline.
4. Financial
information and evidence of
financial responsibility
Schools are legally required to verify funding information before issuing an I-20. Evidence of financial responsibility will be met by submitting:
- The completed and signed "statement of financial support" which is part of the Shoreline Community College application form AND
- Proof of available funds for tuition and living expenses during your first year of study. This can be a bank statement.*
*Copies of financial
documents are acceptable.
However, we reserve the option of asking for originals or additional
documents if necessary. The accountholder on the bank statement MUST
be the person who will actually support the student financially. Applicants submitting fraudulent
documents will be disqualified from receiving an I-20 document or
admission as an F-1 student.
5.
Transfer Status Verification Form (only for
applicants already studying in the United States)
Transfer Status Verification Form is on the last page of the application. Please have it completed by an international student advisor at your current school in the United States and returned to Shoreline.
6. $35 International Express Mail Fee (non-refundable)
Please include an additional $35 if you would like us to send your acceptance packet by express mail.
This method is very convenient because it is quick and trackable. There are four ways to
pay
the express mail fee.
Once all of the above items have been received,
your application will be reviewed and you will be notified of our
decision by email. Application materials will not be returned.
INCOMPLETE
APPLICATIONS CAUSE DELAYS.
Communication through email is the fastest and most efficient way for
us to receive and respond to your questions. Please maintain a valid email
account during the entire application process.
Students who are accepted will be sent an I-20 form and an official acceptance packet. This I-20 form is the immigration document that you will need to apply for a student visa at your local U.S. Embassy or Consulate. The acceptance letter and other materials will detail the steps to be taken to complete your enrollment at Shoreline Community College.
TOEFL is
not required. After admission to
the College, you will take our ESL placement test to determine your English
proficiency. The test is held during
International Student Orientation each quarter.
Note: If you have
taken the TOEFL, IELTS, or Step Eiken test in the past two years and
received a high score, you may be eligible for academic placement. See
