How To Apply
We are pleased that you have chosen
to apply to Shoreline Community College and look forward to welcoming you to
our campus community. We hope the information presented on this page has
been helpful in answering your questions about Shoreline Community College
and our program for international students.
Application Procedure:
To
apply for admission, the following items are
required:
1. A completed
paper or
online
application
The application form should be signed by the applicant
and submitted to International Programs. Please indicate your intended
major area of study and whether or not you plan to transfer to a four-year
college or university.
2.
Transcripts: complete and official high school records
(all years) as well as any college or university transcripts.
- If you have completed high school, please submit proof of high school completion (such as a diploma) AND academic transcripts that show your grades.
- If you have not completed high school, please provide transcripts of the past few years (please note that you must have completed the equivalent of Grade 9 to be eligible for admission to Shoreline).
- If you have also attended college or university, please attach copies of those transcripts as well.
- All records should be in English. Translations should be prepared by the school or by another certified professional translating service. If the official transcript is in another language, please also attach a copy of the original transcript along with the English translation.
- If your country's educational system requires national examinations at the completion of secondary education (i.e., Indonesian SMU, Hong Kong HKCEE), please provide a copy of your results.
- Copies of transcripts are acceptable. However, please be ready to provide originals if asked.
- Students who have attended a college or university prior to Shoreline may be eligible to transfer some or all of their credits for use towards a Shoreline degree. Requests for evaluation of such credits may be made after acceptance and the initial advising appointment.
3. Financial Information and evidence of
financial responsibility.
Schools are legally required to verify funding information before issuing an I-20. Evidence of financial responsibility will be met by submitting:
- The completed and signed "statement of financial support" which is part of the Shoreline Community College application form AND
- Proof of available funds for tuition and living expenses during your first year of study. This can be a bank statement.
4. Transfer Eligibility Form (only for
applicants already studying in the United States).
Transfer Eligibility Form is on the last page of the application. Please have it completed by an international student advisor at your current school in the United States and returned to Shoreline.
5. $35 Application Fee.
There are four ways to pay the non-refundable
$35 Application Fee* (and the optional $35 Express Mail fee). Please
choose one of these options:
a.)
Use the
Credit Card
Authorization Form. Print it out and then mail or fax the
completed form to our office.
b.) Provide a personal
check from a U.S. bank account. Please make checks pay able to
Shoreline Community College.
c.)
Provide a money
order, bank draft or any other type of certified bank check.
d.)
Provide cash in person. Please do not
send any cash in the mail.
*Part of the application fee will cover refreshment costs during orientation.
6. $35 Express
Mail Fee.
Please include an additional $35 if you would like us to send your acceptance packet by express mail.
There are four ways to pay this fee (and the non-refundable
$35 Application Fee). Please choose one of these options:
a.)
Use the

b.) Provide a personal
check from a U.S. bank account. Please make checks pay able to
Shoreline Community College.

Once all of the above items have been received, your application
will be reviewed and you will be notified of our decision by email. INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS MAY CAUSE DELAYS. COMMUNICATION THROUGH EMAIL
IS THE FASTEST AND MOST EFFICIENT WAY FOR US TO RECEIVE AND RESPOND TO
YOUR QUESTIONS. THEREFORE, PLEASE MAINTAIN A VALID EMAIL ACCOUNT DURING THE ENTIRE APPLICATION PROCESS.
Students who are accepted will be sent an I-20 form and an official acceptance packet. This I-20 form is the immigration document that you will need to apply for a student visa at your local U.S. Embassy or Consulate. The acceptance letter and other materials will detail the steps to be taken to complete your enrollment at Shoreline Community College.
Note:
TOEFL is
not required. After admission to
the College, you will take our ESL placement test to determine your English
proficiency. The test is held during
International Student Orientation each quarter.
However, if you have
already taken the TOEFL within the last 2 years and received the following
scores, you will begin in college-level English:
527 Paper-based test (PBT)
197 Computer-based test (CBT)
71 Internet-based test (iBT)
Please ask
ETS to send official TOEFL scores
directly to the College. Our school code is: 4738.
IELTS
is accepted by
Shoreline Community College. If students receive a score of 5.5 or
higher, they will not have
to take ESL.
